Working Quietly
As individuals fighting to improve ourselves, we have to think about why we want to accomplish these goals. Before starting this website, I started telling people that I was going to start my own company and build my website before I had actually started doing any of the work. What that did was lead people to start congratulating me on something that I had not even begun to do yet. My friends and family were praising me for nothing.
So for months, this set me back. I had already felt the gratification from others which left me with less motivation.
I can always tell when someone is insecure about their work ethic because they will stop at nothing to talk about it. These people always frustrate me and they make themselves hard to believe. I have heard them be called “loud workers” or people have called the action “working loudly.” We all can probably picture someone in our mind right now. They love talking about some successes they have made and some goals they accomplished.
Giving them some credit, it is great to achieve your goals and we all need good self-talk. I do not want to come off as too crimudgin or ‘assholey.’
One thing I do always notice about these people is that their success does not always last. Or, they ride the same achievement for a long period of time. They do not keep coming up with equal successes throughout their career. They become complacent too easily.
Just shut up, do your work, only worry about yourself, take some time to focus on yourself and what you want most in life.
You don’t have to mysteriously disappear from the world and lock yourself in a cave. And you definitely don’t have to Bruce Wayne yourself out of the cave to become a new person. And if you have never seen the Dark Knight Rises… get on that. But, it is good to take some time and focus on yourself. Forget about who sees it or who is watching. YOU are watching!! Go hit the gym, eat right, and come out 6 months later looking shredded. If not that, narrow your vision on whatever your intended goal is and NAIL IT. At least try. Then, the compliments and accolades will come without even mentioning anything.
